For almost 4 weeks I encountered intermittent Internet connection until it turned to limited or no connectivity at all.

I called to their support team, they advised me to do the basic troubleshooting and yet nothing has changed. They conducted a field visit, but their technicians are pain in the ass. They had relocate the wrong antenna and they asked me to pay for the wiring, what the!!!

After all these troubleshooting and field visit, all they can say was the main problem is in their based station where we acquired our signal. Crap isn't it? They can't give definite time when we can have our Internet connection back.

SMART BROADBAND really sucks! I'm thinking to change my Internet Service Provider.

Let me share this one, from one of the most reliable communication and network providers during the height of typhoon ondoy.

The bayanihan spirit is widespread among Filipinos and in no way more evident than in times of crisis. The recent calamity inflicted by Tropical Storm Ondoy brought out the best in us. There were many who risked their lives to save others and who shared their resources with their stricken countrymen. Volunteerism prevailed.

Business entities were no exception as they quickly responded to calls for help either in cash or in kind. For its part, Sun Cellular provided continuous service proving to be very reliable in helping its subscribers stay connected even during the rising floods.

Christmas Break…

It was 2 in the morning when my sister decided to go home after “Noche Buena” in her boyfriend’s house. While unlocking our grill gate, she was disturbed by a strange sound of a falling object inside our unit. After a couple of minutes my sister heard chime of a chain on the other room, she went inside our room to call for help. After the startle mode, she noticed that the robber went outside of our unit in panic.

After 30 minutes her boyfriend got inside our unit without pressing our doorbell, meaning somebody unlocked the door. Poor robber he didn’t get any of our things.

Facing New Year…

I’m about to take my short nap while downloading Adobe Photoshop on my computer, after I prayed I heard noise from the outside but I ignored that disturbance. About 3 minutes there was a bang sounds in the air that caught my attention to look outside our window. I’m afraid to gaze but I was shocked when I saw a very huge fire on our neighborhood. The fire was in Arsenio Lacson Street, a couple of blocks away from our building. I caught myself startle, nervous and tense, asking what if “maabot kame”. Thank God the fire fighters arrived quickly.

I was on my way to work when I decided to take a cab from Valero Street up to Salcedo Village.I first picked the Basic Cab, but unfortunately he cannot accommodate me, so I ended up in a white cab named SEAEAGLE with a plate number of TYB – 939.

Since I’m paranoid, I looked around just to observe, then I noticed that the seat behind the cab driver is moved front. I’m pretty-sure that the cab driver is a robber/holdaper and he’s using that kind of set up for his modus operandi, maybe with that enough space he can easily grab or attack his passenger at the back.

If I’m not mistaken the Manhattan Garden City is under MegaWorld Corporation. Manhattan Garden City is still part of Araneta Center, Cubao which is luckily bounded of different shopping hubs such as Shoe Mart, Gateway, Shopwise, Rustans and Farmer’s plaza.

Manhattan’s location is very commuter-friendly. Araneta Center is the place where MRT and LRT2 meet up, MRT in EDSA while LRT2 in Aurora, Blvd. From Manhattan garden City, major destinations like Makati City, Ortigas Center, University Belt and some places in the North are just minutes away.

I think Manhattan Garden City is transit-oriented and perfect place to stay if you are fan of convenience and comfort.

We are solely responsible in taking care of ourselves and our belongings when we are commuting or in a public place, especially during this Christmas season. Almost everyday there are different stories about thieve, holdup and robbery.

Robbers are aware that most of us are busy having our Christmas shopping, they are also aware that we already got our 13th month pay and Christmas bonuses. In their quick eyes we are very much enticing, wrong move may lead to our not-so-merry Christmas and a broke new year.

Here are some tips for commuters:

When you’re in a PUJ/PUB

Most of the robbers prefer busses/jeepneys because it is often crowded which people come and go. If you’re a PUJ/PUB commuters make sure you always distribute bills or coins in your pockets and bags, do not flaunt your gadgets like cellphone, psp, ipod and the like, put your eyes on your belongings and be vigilant to other passengers. If you sense that the next person to you has bad motive, leave the PUJ/PUB immediately or call someone’s attention.

When riding in a CAB

In this case it is hard to distinguish if the cab driver is a bad guy, cab driver is also cautious that they might victimize by robbers (acting like passengers) too. Just bear in mind, lock all the doors, if you’re alone sit at the back of the driver and relax. Copy all necessary information such as plate numbers, telephone numbers and the name of the cab. If you have mobile phone, send the information to your friend or family member just in case. I personally choose MGE, R n E and Basic cab rather than white taxi (generic white cab).

Crowded MRT/LRT

I have my own MRT story… Oh well, better hold the zipper of your bag when you’re inside the train, don’t flaunt your gadgets too. Thief in MRT dressed like a professionals too, so we would not think them as a robber. Don’t put your wallet at the back pockets of your pants and even cellphones. Their modus operandi is the usual “AGAW EKSENA”. Once they called the attention of the other passengers they can easily get what they want from you.

Everyday we encounter bad people with different modus operandi, just take care.

Internet Connection

For me internet connection is a big deal. I’m working as a search engine optimizer, so my career is badly rely on the internet connectivity.

Until now I don’t know yet who is the best internet service provider, is it Smart, Globe, PLDT or My destiny. I’m currently using smart broadband which is really sucks. Could you imagine that I have to bear the slow internet connection and lousy customer service until January 2009? But I don’t know yet what to avail next year.

Some of my friends shift from PLDC (PL DisConnect) to my destiny. My other colleague hates the service of globe, while I hate smartbro. Hmmm..which is which. Sigh!

Part of urban life is the condo living. I have known a few colleagues that are now enjoying the benefits of living in a condominium here in the city.

You can also find this condo sharing in some Cityland condominiums.

Urban living is not easy, if you want comfortable life you have to pay for it.
